NCAA2 2020/2021. Ryan Hawkins, né le 12/05/1997 à Atlantic (Iowa), 2.04m 100kgs, poste 3/4 US à la recherche de son premier contrat pro pour l'été 2022.

Voici un ailier intéressant, forcément sous côté, puisque venant de passer les 4 dernières années en NCAA2 à Northwest Missouri State University (pour information c'est la même université que Justin Pitts que nous vous avions présenté sur FBS puis qui avait signé à Saint-Quentin avant qu'il ne fasse faux bond et Chris Ndow Ebou (Denain, Boulazac)).
Pour boucler son parcours en tant que "Super Senior", alors que de nombreuses facs s'intéressaient à lui, il a choisi de franchir un palier en intégrant la NCAA1 à Creighton dans la Big East Conference, l'une des 4 conférences les plus compétitives du pays.

Beau challenge, mais tout à fait à la portée de ce joueur intelligent qui n'avait plus rien à prouver en NCAA2.
Sur ses 4 années là bas, avec Hawkins en leader, sa fac a gagnée 124 matchs et n'a perdue que 7 fois.
Il a réalisé le premier triple-double de l'histoire de la MIAA Conference, avec 30 points, 11 rebonds et 11 passes décisives.
Avec 30 doubles-doubles en carrière, il est le meilleur rebondeur de tous les temps de Northwest, le deuxième pour les points, les interceptions et les trois points.
Réalisant deux matchs de 40 points ou plus, 14 matchs de 30+ points, 44 matchs de 20+ points et 89 matchs à deux chiffres.
L'an passé, pour son année Senior, il tournait à 23pts 60%, 46% 3pts (87/189), 76% FT, 9 rbds, 2.4 AS, 2 ST, 2 TO, 22 d'éval en 35 minutes lors de 30 rencontres.
Leader de la saison régulière de sa conférence durant 4 ans, Champion en 2018 / 2019 / 2020, élu meilleur défenseur de conférence en 2019 et 2020, élu dans le meilleur 5 défensif en 2019/2020/2021, elu dans le meilleur 5 de conférence en 2020 et 2021, dans le second 5 en 2019, Champion NCAA2 en 2019 et 2021, élu dans le meilleur 5 NCAA2 2021, lors de la dernière finale gagnée 80-54, Hawkins a inscrit 31 points et pris 18 rebonds.

Indéniablement, on a affaire ici à très bon joueur, dépassant avec 182% en adresses cumulées 2pts + 3Pts + FT., la barre mythique du 180%.
Les capacités défensives de Hawkins ajoutent une autre dimension à son jeu. L'attaquant a été le meilleur intercepteur des Bearcats lors des trois dernières saisons. Un ailier apportant une réelle profondeur au jeu, capable de scorer et de mettre de l'intensité défensive. Un vrai renfort des deux côtés du terrain.

Leader complet, excellent attaquant, shootant correctement à toutes distances, 2° scoreur à 3 pts de NCAA2 avec sa moyenne de 41% en 4 ans, disposant d'un joli jump shoot, il sait se créer ses tirs par lui même, capable d'attaquer efficacement face ou dos au cercle, gérant bien ses ballons, coéquipier altruiste, défenseur impliqué, captant du rebond, compensant ses pertes de balles par le même nombre d'interceptions, régulier produisant régulièrement de très belles évals, capable d'évoluer sur 2 postes.

La nature polyvalente de son jeu lui permet de jouer à plusieurs postes.
Evidemment, selon le niveau, il peut jouer en 4, mais son poste naturel reste le 3, il en la taille, l'adresse et la morphologie idéale.
Vrai basketteur n'ayant pas que l'attaque en ligne de mire, c'est un plaisir de le voir évoluer.
Réelle capacité à marquer tout en comprenant l'importance de la circulation de la balle.
Avec un excellent Qi basket, son jeu sans ballon est impressionnant.
Doté d'un jeu offensif complet, disposant d'un joli jump shoot, il sait se créer ses tirs sans problème.
Bon athlète, ses fondamentaux, son maniement, sa vitesse de pieds lui permettent d'évoluer à l'aile, lorsque sa taille, son physique et sa puissance, lui permettent de sortir son épingle du jeu dessous.

Peu de chance que ce genre de rookie déjà expérimenté déçoive, habitué qu'il a était à supporter très tôt la pression et à prendre ses responsabilités avec sang froid.
Double vainqueur NCAA2, Hawkins était sans doute le meilleur joueur de la NCAA2 l'année dernière.
Il sera vraiment intéressant de le suivre en NCAA1 l'an prochain.
Pour un coach, disposer dans son cinq, de 5 joueurs du même acabit qu'un Ryan Hawkins, ne doit pas être loin de s'apparenter au bonheur.
Il ne devrait pas avoir de mal à faire une belle carrière outre Atlantique.

Hawkins' defensive abilities add another dimension to his game. The forward has been the Bearcats' best interceptor for the past three seasons. A winger bringing real depth to the game, able to score and put defensive intensity. A real reinforcement on both sides of the field.

Complete leader, excellent striker, shooting correctly at all distances, 2° scorer at 3 pts of NCAA2 with his average of 41% in 4 years, having a nice jump shoot, he knows how to create his shots by himself,able to attack effectively face or back to the circle, managing his balls well, altruistic teammate, defender involved, capturing rebound, compensating for his losses of balls by the same number of interceptions, regular regularly producing very beautiful evals, able to evolve on 2 posts.

The versatile nature of his game allows him to play in multiple positions.
Obviously, depending on the level, he can play in 4, but his natural position remains the 3, he in the size, the skill and the ideal morphology.
True basketball player not having only the attack in the line of sight, it is a pleasure to see him evolve.
Real ability to score while understanding the importance of ball circulation.
With excellent Basketball Qi, his ballless game is impressive.
Endowed with a complete offensive game, with a nice jump shoot, he knows how to create his shots without problem.
Good athlete, his fundamentals, his handling, his foot speed allow him to evolve on the wing, when his size, his physique and his power, allow him to get out of the game underneath.

Little chance that this kind of already experienced rookie will disappoint, accustomed who was very early to bear the pressure and take responsibility with cold blood.
A two-time NCAA2 winner, Hawkins was arguably the best player in NCAA2 last year.
It will be really interesting to follow him in NCAA1 next year.
For a coach, having in his five, 5 players of the same ilk as a Ryan Hawkins, must not be far from being similar to happiness.
He should have no trouble making a great career across the Atlantic.
