NCAA1 saison 2022/2023. Jack Nunge, né le 20/02/1999 à Newburgh, (Indiana), 2.13m 111kgs, poste 5/4 US, à la recherche d'un contrat pour 2024.

Belles stats Super Senior pour cet intérieur massif capable d'évoluer sur les 2 positions : 14pts 56%, 39% 3pts (40/102), 68% FT, 8 rbds, 2 AS, 1 BS, 1 ST, 1 TO, 17 d'éval en 29 minutes sur 37 matchs.

Jolie performance pour celui qui avait subi consécutivement deux blessures au même genou en 2020 puis 2021 et qui dû faire face à la mort de son père dans la foulée (+ une pandémie mondiale).
Le persévérant Jack a transformé ces difficultés en une force implacable. Dès sa deuxième année en fac, il s'est mis à fond sur la muscu.
A son retour à 100%, l'entraîneur de Xavier déclara qu'il avait complètement modifié le visage de son équipe, la rendant beaucoup plus forte.
Avouant aussi que son joueur était l'une des personnes les plus fortes mentalement qu'il connaisse.
Jack a toujours été un "dur à cuire", a déclaré son coach. Après tout ce qu'il a subi, Il a toujours été capable de rebondir rapidement.

Les Nunges sont une famille athlétique. Le père a joué au basket à l'Université de Rochester, sa femme a jouée au volley et au basket au Central College. Leur fille aînée, Rebecca, a joué au volley-ball à Notre-Dame. Leur autre fille, Jessica, est actuellement joueuse de volley-ball dans l'Illinois. Sa cousine, Chelsea a jouée à Iowa State et en WNBA.

Jack a choisi d'être transféré d'Iowa à Xavier en 2022 pour se rapprocher de sa famille, qui pouvait plus facilement le voir jouer.
De plus son jeune frère, Bob, étudiant en première année à Xavier vivait avec Jack dans la même maison hors campus. Besoin de resserrer les liens familiaux.
Les Nunge s'entraident pour faire face à la perte du père. En plus de vivre dans une maison avec son jeune frère, sa mère et ses sœurs venaient les rejoindre régulièrement.

Le nom complet de Jack est John Richard Nunge, diplômé de l'Iowa avec un bac en comptabilité. Etudiant hors pair il a été élu Athlete of the Year de la BIG EAST Conference cette année.
Chic type éduqué, gendre parfait, déjà marié à Gabrielle Orr, fille de Lorenzo Orr, vu en France durant 7 ans.
Bien sous tous rapports, coachable, mature mentalement et physiquement, il a déjà vécu beaucoup de choses et ce n'est pas lui qui vous mettra le feu aux vestiaires.
L'ancien étudiant maigre de Castle High School s'est ainsi énormément amélioré et transformé ces dernières années.
Sa volonté principale a toujours été de devenir un meilleur joueur.

Nunge a toujours désiré être un bon joueur. Il a toujours eu de bonnes compétences offensives, mais a aussi travaillé à la fac ses facultés défensives.
Lors de sa dernière année de fac à iowa, il a notamment eu fort à faire face à Luka Garza, actuel joueur de Minnesota et hyper rentable en G-League.
Il s'est battu face à lui tous les jours à l'entraînement, ce qui lui a permis d'apprendre beaucoup notamment sur le switch en 4/5 - 5/4.

Aujourd'hui totalement remis de ses blessures, Jack est un fort et physique Intérieur mobile, endurant et résistant.
Il dispose d'une bonne maitrise du ballon et s'avère être un bon technicien pour sa taille.
Fiable toutes distances avec encore une grosse marge de progression.
C'est un solide rebondeur et un contreur redouté qui n'oublie pas de servir proprement ses coéquipiers dès qu'il le peut.
Pensant avant tout au collectif, sa mobilité lui permet de poser de solides écrans.
Même si son style et son toucher ne paraissent pas toujours "académiques", notamment lorsqu'il lâche du bras rouler, il se montre efficace sur les PnR et réceptionne bien les alley oops.

Même si ça n'est aujourd'hui qu'un mauvais souvenir, il a souffert de deux blessures consécutives au genou ce qui peut toujours refroidir quelques employeurs potentiels.
Sur le terrain, il peut aussi souffrir face à des intérieurs plus rapides ou plus athlétiques.
Il doit enfin travailler ses FT afin de les stabiliser aux alentours des 75%.

Voici donc un joueur assez prometteur pour être calibré à terme "Liga Endesa".
Même si le rémunérateur marché asiatique lui fait actuellement les yeux doux, il ne serait pas insensible à ce qu'on lui propose un vrai "projet basket" en Europe.
Joueur bien sous tous rapports, il offre le luxe de pouvoir disposer d'un 2.13m "battit", fiable à toutes distances, pouvant autant jouer 5 que 4.

Nice performance for the one who had suffered two consecutive injuries to the same knee in 2020 and 2021 and who had to face the death of his father in the wake (+ a global pandemic).
The persevering Jack turned these difficulties into a relentless force. From his second year of college, he put himself all the way to muscle.
When he returned 100%, Xavier's coach said that he had completely changed the face of his team, making it much stronger.
He also admitted that his player was one of the most mentally strong people he knew.
Jack has always been a tough guy," his coach said. He's always been able to bounce back quickly after everything he's been through.

The Nunges are an athletic family. The father played basketball at the University of Rochester, his wife played volleyball and basketball at Central College. Their eldest daughter, Rebecca, played volleyball at Notre Dame. Their other daughter, Jessica, is currently a volleyball player in Illinois. Her cousin, Chelsea, played for Iowa State and the WNBA.

Jack chose to be traded from Iowa to Xavier in 2022 to be closer to his family, who could more easily see him play.
In addition, his younger brother, Bob, a freshman at Xavier, lived with Jack in the same off-campus home. Need to strengthen family ties.
The Nunges help each other cope with the loss of the father. In addition to living in a house with his younger brother, his mother and sisters came to join them regularly.
