Saison 2023/2024 / D1 bulgare. Karim Mane, né le 16 mai 2000 au Sénégal, 1.95m 89kgs, poste 2/1 Cotonou francophone Canada-Sénégal, à la recherche d'un contrat pour 2025.

Arrivé au Québec avec sa famille alors qu’il n’avait que 7 ans, ce Sénégalais d’origine s’est initié au basket tardivement.
Moins de 10 ans plus tard, le voici chez les pros, après y avoir fait le saut directement des rangs collégiaux québécois, devenant du coup le premier à réaliser l’exploit.

Il se dit d’ailleurs très fier de cet exploit, lui qui a décidé de demeurer au Québec plutôt que de déménager aux USA pour y rejoindre une académie de basketball ou une école secondaire, où il aurait profité d’une meilleure vitrine auprès des recruteurs NBA. Il a également surpris tout le monde en refusant des offres d’universités US.
Courtisé par des universités comme Marquette, Michigan State et Memphis, il a fait grimper sa côte au Championnat du monde U19, et selon lui, il a déjà eu des entretiens avec une quinzaine de franchises.

Mais ignoré à la draft par les 30 équipes du circuit, ce n’était pas vraiment une surprise pour lui, car il avait déjà une entente verbale avec le Magic.
Fin 2020, il signe donc un two-way contract avec les Orlando Magic, devenant ainsi le premier joueur québécois à aller directement en NBA1.
Un petit morceau de Montréal l’attendait tout de même à son arrivée à Orlando, puisque son compatriote Khem Birch évoluait avec le Magic depuis trois saisons.
L'intérieur de 28 ans a rapidement pris Mané sous son aile. Birch] a été d’une grande aide pour son insertion.
Il s'est aussi rapproché d'Evan Fournier ou Michael Carter-Williams, qui l'ont conseillé afin de devenir un meilleur joueur.

Après 10 bouts de matchs en NBA, il bascule en G-league pour 18 matchs et un titre de Champion au bout.
En 2021, il se fait libérer par son club et devient un agent libre.
Suivront une Summer League avec Minnesota, puis en 2022, 29 matchs de G-League au sein de 3 équipes différentes.
En 2023, l'équipe réserve des Sixers l'engage pour 12 matchs de G-League.

Pendant ces 3 années, Karim, bourreau de travail n'aura pas perdu son temps à côtoyer ce niveau.
Et même s'il n'est pas eu parcours typique, il s'est amélioré techniquement et physiquement.
Toutefois, la grande ligue se refusant à lui, il a décidé de s'expatrier sur le marché outre atlantique et c'est en Bulgarie qu'il atterrit en mars 2024.
En l'espace de 11 matchs, il y sort une très belle éval de 21 en 31 minutes.
Correct à 2pts, correct aux FT, en tant que combo, il doit impérativement stabiliser son shoot longue distance.
Il a prouvé dans le passé qu'il en était capable.

Athlète au-dessus de la moyenne pour son poste. Excellent physique pour un combo avec son 2.13m d'envergure.
Travailleur phénoménal, il amène un haut niveau d’énergie sur le terrain.
Vraie flèche en contre-attaque, casseur de chevilles vif et rapide au premier pas foudroyant.
Cette vélocité lui permet de très bien défendre sur l'homme, ou hors ballon.
Grosse force de pénétration, des attaques face au cercle qui lui permettent de ressortir le ballon s'il est bloqué.
Bon slasheur, très gros dunkeur, résiste bien aux contacts en l'air.
Participe efficacement à la passe et aux rebonds.

Revanchard, même s'il rêve de revenir tutoyer la '"grande ligue'", rien n'est moins sûr.
Mais il reste persuadé qu'il peut jouer au niveau NBA.
Il doit avant tout s’habituer à la vitesse à laquelle le jeu se pratique sur ce niveau.
Mais prêt à tout pour réaliser ses objectifs, sans jamais se plaindre, ni être en retard, c’est un exemple par son éthique de travail.
Son plus grand défi ces 3 dernières années, fut d’apprendre sur de très courtes périodes.

Il sait néanmoins qu'il doit s’améliorer dans tout ce qu'il fait.
Son rythme, ses prises de décision, son tir, rester agressif et efficace, afin de devenir meilleur chaque jour.
Il doit aussi se montrer moins dispendieux balle en main, pour limiter ses TO.
Il doit enfin gagner en maturité pour un poste demandant de la bouteille.

Gros potentiel, la Fédération Sénégalaise ne s'y est pas trompée.
Sur une récente décision exceptionnelle de la FIBA, Karim Mané, né au Sénégal, naturalisé canadien, est autorisé à jouer pour l’équipe nationale du Sénégal.
Ayant porté les couleurs du Canada en jeune, voici certainement le futur meneur des lions sénégalais.

Ce jeune joueur francophone au surprenant parcours atypique, parti trop tôt en NBA, conviendrait parfaitement au jeu pratiqué en France.
Pas pour rien que la NBA lui a laissé sa chance 3 ans de suite.
Le basket français a là une chance d'intégrer un combo prometteur aux qualités physiques indéniables.
Tel un Mouss Sonko, il pourrait envoyer du bois.

Season 2023/2024 / Bulgarian D1. Karim Mane, born on May 16, 2000 in Senegal, 1.95m 89kgs, position 2/1 French-speaking Cotonou Canada-Senegal, looking for a contract for 2025.

Arriving in Quebec with his family when he was only 7 years old, this Senegalese native was introduced to basketball late in life.
Less than 10 years later, here he is in the pros, after making the jump directly from the Quebec college ranks, becoming the first to achieve the feat.

He says he is very proud of this feat, as he decided to stay in Quebec rather than move to the United States to join a basketball academy or a high school, where he would have benefited from a better showcase for NBA scouts. He also surprised everyone by turning down offers from US universities.
Courted by universities such as Marquette, Michigan State and Memphis, he has increased his rating at the U19 World Championship, and according to him, he has already had interviews with about fifteen franchises.

But ignored in the draft by all 30 teams in the league, it wasn't really a surprise to him, as he already had a verbal agreement with the Magic.
At the end of 2020, he signed a two-way contract with the Orlando Magic, becoming the first Quebec player to go directly to the NBA1.
A little piece of Montreal was waiting for him when he arrived in Orlando, as his compatriot Khem Birch had been with the Magic for three seasons.

And even if he didn't have a typical course, he improved technically and physically.
However, the big league refusing him, he decided to move to the market across the Atlantic and it is in Bulgaria that he lands in March 2024.
In the space of 11 games, he scored a very good 21 in 31 minutes.
Correct at 2pts, correct at FT, as a combo, he must imperatively stabilize his long-distance shot.
He has proven in the past that he can do it.

Above average athlete for his position. Excellent physique for a combo with his 2.13m wingspan.
A phenomenal worker, he brings a high level of energy to the field.
A real arrow on the counter-attack, a sharp and fast ankle breaker at the first lightning step.
This speed allows him to defend very well on the man, or off the ball.
Great penetration, attacks in front of the rim that allow him to get the ball out if it is blocked.
Good slasher, very big dunker, resists well to contact in the air.
Participates effectively in passing and rebounding.

Revengeful, even if he dreams of returning to the 'big league', nothing is less certain.
But he remains convinced that he can play at the NBA level.
Above all, he has to get used to the speed at which the game is played at this level.
But ready to do anything to achieve his goals, without ever complaining or being late, he is an example by his work ethic.
His biggest challenge in the last 3 years has been to learn in very short periods of time.

But he knows he has to get better at everything he does.
His pace, his decision-making, his shooting, stay aggressive and efficient, in order to become better every day.
He must also be less expensive with the ball in hand, to limit his TO.
He must finally gain maturity for a position that requires bottle.

Great potential, the Senegalese Federation was not mistaken.
On a recent exceptional decision by FIBA, Karim Mané, born in Senegal, naturalized Canadian, is allowed to play for the Senegalese national team.
Having worn the colors of Canada as a youth, this is certainly the future leader of the Senegalese lions.

This young French-speaking player with a surprising atypical background, who left too early in the NBA, would be a perfect fit for the game played in France.
Not for nothing that the NBA gave him a chance 3 years in a row.
French basketball has a chance to integrate a promising combo with undeniable physical qualities.
Like a Mouss Sonko, he could send wood.
