Saison 2024/2025 - Italie SERIE A. Mouhamed Faye né le 5 février 2005 à Dakar (Sénégal) 2.09m 103kgs, poste 5

Puisque les clubs français mettent de côté le scouting au Sénégal, et en Afrique en général, l'agence italienne SIGMA en a fait l'une de ses spécialités, organisant notamment des camps en local. Voici donc encore un excellent joueur sénégalais, qui va finir "italien", apte même, à terme, à jouer pour la sélection transalpine, aujourd'hui relativement faible dessous.

Mouhamed, alias "Momo", a été formé au centre Dieda Basket Academy (DBA – Dakar) avant de s’exiler en Italie en 2022.
Il a porté les couleurs de l’équipe nationale du Sénégal lors de l’Afrobasket U18 2022, où il a figuré parmi les meilleurs jeunes : Meilleur rebondeur (13,7 rebonds en moyenne) et deuxième meilleur marqueur avec 18,2 points.
Présent dans l'équipe "jeunes" de la Reggiana, il est aussi passé par le U18 Next Generation Team en 2023, avant d’intégrer l’équipe 1 de Reggio Emilia l'an passé. Il a joué toutes les 30 rencontres du championnat et en sortie de banc, a terminé avec une moyenne de 7.9 points, 4.9 rebonds et 1.2 contre pour 9.2 d’évaluation en 18,1 minutes de jeu.
A l’issue des votes effectués par les managers, entraîneurs, joueurs, les médias et les fans, il a réussi à remporter le trophée du meilleur U22 du championnat de LBA, concluant ainsi une brillante première année dans le Spaghetti Circuit.

Bon apprentissage du haut niveau pour ce grand athlète délié, se mouvant avec aisance.
Polyvalent dans son jeu de jambes pour marquer, solide sur ces appuis, il impacte sur ses posts déjà techniques, droite/gauche.
Fiable à 2pts, inexistant à 3pts, très perfectible aux FT. Il a progressé sur ses FT, lui qui était nul dans ce domaine les années précédentes.
Même s'il ne tente encore jamais sa chance à longue distance, il est désormais capable de porter le danger avec efficacité dans le périmètre, jusqu'à environ 5m.
Bon scoreur en mouvement, efficace et bon finisseur autour du cercle, il sait se montrer disponible pour réceptionner les PnR, monte au dunk en détente sèche avec facilité, idem pour valider un ballon en alley oop.
Offrant une grosse activité, il fait toujours quelque chose d'intelligent en attaque, notamment en posant des écrans et en se rendant disponible pour une passe. Sur ce très bon niveau italien, pour un joueur de son âge, il perd assez peu de ballons.
Rebondeur implacable, notamment offensif, avec une bonne lecture du shoot, dans lutte sous le cercle, il jumpe à bon escient, souvent dans un meilleur timing que celui de ses opposants.
Excellent contreur jaillissant, assez fluide et mobile défensivement pour éviter de se faire déborder en drive par un extérieur qu'il peut cueillir au contre, arrivé sous le fer. Pas pour rien, donc, qu'il a été élu meilleur jeune du championnat transalpin.
Cette saison, malgré un nombre de fautes assez élevé, dû notamment à la fougue de sa jeunesse, son coach grec, Dimitri Priftis, lui octroie une grande confiance : 24 minutes en Serie A et 23 minutes en BCL.
Le jeune Sénégalais en profite bien : 14 d'éval en Serie A et 15 d'éval en BCL.

Avec pour le moment, seulement 103kgs à opposer, il peut souffrir, notamment du haut du corps, face à des 4 et 5 massifs, qu'il peut avoir du mal à bouger ou contenir. Il pourrait ainsi souffrir pour évoluer uniquement en pur 5 plus tard.
Raison pour laquelle il doit améliorer son jeu face au cercle et son shoot extérieur.
L'idéal serait, qu'à terme, il puisse décaler de plus en plus en 4.
Il gagnerait donc, à mieux s'exercer au shoot en périphérie et à la passe, voir même, de s'essayer à 3pts de temps en temps.
Expérience aidant, il fera encore moins d'erreurs de jeunesse en défense.

Un 2005 qui fait un aussi bon boulot face des vieux briscards, c'est fort.
Joueur francophone très talentueux, parfait pour le marché français, évoluant dans une ligue top niveau.
L'avenir du jeu intérieur de son pays d'adoption, est sans doute là.

Since French clubs put aside scouting in Senegal, and in Africa in general, the Italian agency SIGMA has made it one of its specialties, organizing local camps. So here is another excellent Senegalese player, who will end up "Italian", even fit, in the long term, to play for the transalpine selection, which is currently relatively weak below.

Mouhamed, alias "Momo", was trained at the Dieda Basket Academy (DBA – Dakar) before moving to Italy in 2022.
He wore the colors of the Senegal national team at the Afrobasket U18 2022, where he was among the best youngsters: Best rebounder (13.7 rebounds on average) and second best scorer with 18.2 points.
Present in the "youth" team of Reggiana, he also played for the U18 Next Generation Team Zadar in 2023, before joining the 1st team of Reggio Emilia last year. He played in all 30 league games and off the bench, finished with an average of 7.9 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.2 blocks for a 9.2 efficiency in 18.1 minutes of play.
Following the votes made by managers, coaches, players, media and fans, he managed to win the trophy for the best U22 in the LBA championship, thus concluding a brilliant first year in the Spaghetti Circuit.

Good learning of the high level for this great athlete who is free, moving with ease.
Versatile in his footwork to score, solid on these supports, he impacts on his already technical posts, right/left.
Reliable at 2pts, non-existent at 3pts, very perfectible at FT. He has improved on his FTs, he who was bad at this in previous years.
Even if he never tries his luck at long distance, he is now able to carry danger effectively in the perimeter, up to about 5m.
A good scorer on the move, efficient and a good finisher around the rim, he knows how to be available to receive the PnR, goes up to the dunk with ease, ditto to validate a ball in alley oop.
Offering a lot of activity, he always does something smart in attack, especially by setting up screens and making himself available for a pass. On this very good Italian level, for a player of his age, he loses quite few balls.
A relentless rebounder, especially offensive, with a good reading of the shot, in a fight under the rim, he jumps wisely, often with better timing than that of his opponents.
Excellent blocker springing up, fluid enough and mobile defensively to avoid being outflanked on the drive by an outside that he can pick up on the block, arrived under the iron. It is not for nothing, therefore, that he was voted best young player in the transalpine championship.
This season, despite a fairly high number of fouls, due in particular to the ardour of his youth, his Greek coach, Dimitri Priftis, gives him great confidence: 24 minutes in Serie A and 23 minutes in BCL.
The young Senegalese is making the most of it: 14 in Serie A and 15 in the BCL.

With for the moment, only 103kgs to oppose, he can suffer, especially in the upper body, against 4 and 5 massifs, which he can have difficulty moving or containing. He could thus suffer to evolve only in pure 5 later.
That's why he needs to improve his game in front of the rim and his outside shot.
The ideal would be that, in the long term, it could shift more and more to 4.
He would therefore benefit from better practicing shooting on the periphery and passing, or even trying 3pts from time to time.
With the help of experience, he will make even fewer youthful mistakes in defence.

A 2005 that does such a good job against the old hands, it's strong.
Very talented French-speaking player, perfect for the French market, playing in a top league.
The future of the interior game of his adopted country is undoubtedly there.
